This is a tune with (just a tiny bit) of vocal and trumpet on it from me. Its mournful but kind and its one of my favourites. Unusually for me the track has not really got a dedicated bassline, the boom from the kick fills the space ok so I left it alone. Quite a bit of the track was played in live so it isn't all robotic and quantized. [audio:used_to_be_happy.mp3] [ratings]   Read the rest of the entry...
June 18, 2009 · Dub EP
This the first unintuitively named track from my current workflow, an EP of dub influenced music. It has my favourite drop I've written, and an interesting structure that keeps it edgy and non-repetative (2 extra bars bridge in every 8 or so, you can work it out :-) ). I think I probably overcooked the wobbly bassline a bit, but it was fun and sounds lovely on big speakers. [audio:dub-five.mp3] [ratings]   Read the rest of the entry...

The most relaxing thing I've ever written, and thats saying a lot.. The drums are really carefully programmed. Its a great track to meditate to, or improvise over. I got the bassline style idea from an Autechre tune, but its not a copy by any means. [audio:grown-01.mp3] [ratings]   Read the rest of the entry...

Laidback jazzy mixture of lounge and extreme relaxation. Has an interesting tempo change, and interesting rattling percussion. I wrote it when I was ill, and really hot. The background ambience is recorded out of the window, you can hear the window creaking and the wind and the birds. I dont think this mix is finished at the end, I will try to find a more complete one soon. [audio:ill.mp3] [ratings]   Read the rest of the entry...

Pleasing relaxation arrangement with strings. Mostly an ambient piece, with booming analogue sine bass drum not used excessively. [audio:drunk.mp3] [ratings]   Read the rest of the entry...
